1) Today we were very lucky to have three visitors from the imagine1day organization. We met Sapna Dayal, the Executive Director, Seid Aman the Ethiopia Country Representative and Yeheyis Berhane, the Program Coordinator. They all share the common goal of building sustainable schools in Ethiopia. Our connection to this wonderful group is through Molly, who, at Christmas time, asked for a donation to be made instead of receiving presents.
Their website it a lot of fun to explore and you can see all the bits and pieces that actually go into building a school. Also, under their "Community" section you can look at the "creatributions" that people have come up with by combining their creativity and passion to make contributions. It would be great if as a class and/or a grade we could spend some time thinking about our creativity and passions and see what we could do to help!2) The choir has been invited to sing for the "One year until the Olympics" celebration on February 12, and so, we have had to adjust our speech presentation times.
Speeches will now be on February 12, from 11:00am - 12:30pm
3) We have been working on speeches and my biggest tips when practicing your speeches at home, is to consider your voice. We have seen the huge difference that a great voice can make. Four key ingredients to a great speech voice:
- volume
- pitch
- stress
- tempo
4) Homework:
- Respiratory System vocabulary sheet
- Problem Solving due Friday
- By Tuesday: bring in a plastic bottle for our "make a lung model" project (2L is preferable, but smaller bottles are fine). If you don't have any bottles at home, don't worry - some students said they could bring in extras!
- CHOIR: If you are participating in the Olympic Celebration concert you MUST have you forms back tomorrow.
- No school on Monday
